Yayoi Kusama - Mirrored Years

Yayoi Kusama is one of the most significant contemporary artists to emerge from Japan. Her lifelong obsession with polka dots, drawn from her hallucinations since childhood, is the constant recurring theme in her artwork.

Her work spans paintings, drawings, and soft sculpture, and her most exciting art – immersive rooms lined with mirrors creating an infinite stretch of wonder!

It is such an intense pleasure to be able to experience her art first hand and wander between giant plush clouds, reflect in the garden of mirrored balls, and sit in a magical room lit up only by dots.

We’re very lucky to have the Yayoi Kusama – Mirrored Years exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney until 8 June 2009.
